Experience A Magical Garden Trail

See Beatrix Potter’s beloved characters brought to life for the first time at Northern Ireland’s royal residence. Let your imagination roam as you follow a trail alongside meandering waterways, through enchanting woodland, and into a walled garden with gardeners much friendlier than Mr McGregor!

As you explore, keep your eyes peeled for our very own wildlife, and get stuck into family-friendly activities celebrating the great outdoors. Make a raft to float Squirrel Nutkin down the stream, create your own game with natural materials, or help Mrs Tiggy-Winkle with her washing line.

On Saturdays, you may even be able to catch a glimpse of Peter Rabbit himself and get a special photo!

The Imaginary Menagerie is a play trail throughout the Castle's gardens. Opened in June 2021, it takes visitors on an adventure course that includes a series of sculptures celebrating the pets and wildlife animals that have made Hillsborough their home.
