Superbloom Schools

Our original Superbloom Schools project for 2022’s Platinum Jubilee proved to be such a success (watch the video below) that we did it all again in 2023 with another 25 amazing schools. Each school was carefully selected based on their level of Pupil Premium, ESL and special educational needs, to design and create gardens in the spirit of the Tower of London's Moat in Bloom.

For 2024, a third enthusiastic group of 25 partner schools across the UK have taken up the Superbloom challenge to transform an unloved outdoor patch in their grounds into a thriving garden for the wellbeing of their school community and local wildlife.

The schools will receive training in gardening and wellbeing from specialists, learning resources for their classrooms and grants to buy plants and equipment. In Summer 2024, they will each bring a class to the Tower for an expenses-paid visit as our very special guests and see the flowers in the Moat.
The project’s aim is to boost students’ wellbeing, behaviour and academic achievement in the unique ways that only gardening and spending time with nature can bring.

To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee in 2022, the Tower Moat was transformed for the first time into Superbloom - a spectacular field of flowers - to enhance people's wellbeing and create a beautiful garden in the heart of London. 

Schools around the UK were invited to take part in the project and provided with free seeds to plant. A group of 56 partner schools also received teacher training, in-school art workshops and a class celebration day at the Tower.
