Wars of the roses

While the Wars of the Roses raged, the Tower of London stood as a dominant symbol of legitimate rule. Students will analyse the Tower’s role in cementing the reigns of both Yorkist and Lancastrian kings.

Medieval England: 1154-1216

As a fortress, palace and prison, the Tower of London was at the centre of many key moments in medieval history. Using the Tower’s buildings as a source of historical evidence, students will investigate some of the key individuals and events of the years 1154 to 1216 to explore how the Angevin kings of England used the Tower to assert and consolidate their power.
